Development Studies

In this post I will present the development studies I created for my project.

As I mentioned earlier, I am planning in developing drawing in a different style than usual to improve my drawing abilities and become more flexible as an artist and an animator. On those sketchbook pages I pasted below, I did some studies of creating a character in a different style. I showed the blinking process and different views at the face, different hair styles and different emotion.

This task helped me improve my skills of improvising as an artist. My go-to style for my character drawings is a very appealing, full of curvy lines and repetitive. I like to stick to it because I know the characters turn out well when I draw in that style, however I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and try something different for this project. I think this will definitely help me improve my drawing style and my thinking process because I will no longer be limiting myself in only one style or theme.

  1. Your sketches have definitely improved over the course of the time with us, but could you look at developing different facial shapes? Or at least looking at ways of depicting the face that changes the emphasis or focuses on another element of the features?
