Storyline development

In this blog post I will present the process of creating the storyline for my animation. Generally storyline is very important to me because I see myself as a storyteller. I generally know what a story needs to be successful; it needs a build-up and a climax. Some more complex stories have a few climaxes, sometimes climax is in the middle of the story, rarely at the beginning. Generally the options are unlimited. My creative process of creating a storyline often needs sticky notes. I write them down and stick them so it all create a story for me. In the first term, when I was creating an animation, I used the sticky notes and sticked them to my window. This term I decided to repeat the process but in my sketchbook and using small notes instead of the big squares, because the big squares were unavailable for me. For some reason the notes were not sticky enough therefore I was forced to use some transparent tape to have it all glued to the page.

For this process I have used a fine liner, small sticky notes and a transparent tape. I wrote down information about the story that I saw as important and that will be helpful to me when storyboarding. I used different paper colors for different things that are important and it helped me see what I want to present and in what way.

This is generally how my creative process when creating a storyline goes, because using sticky notes helps me to make changes whenever I need to without crossing things out and making the page messy and difficult to understand.

This is the sketchbook page I have created. My next step is storyboarding.

  1. Storyboard is very clear, you have obviously thought very concisely about how the scenario will play out.
