the martians have landed: initial sketches

For this blog post I had to draw a few quick sketches of what I want my project to be. As I explained in the previous post, I want to create 6 characters that could be main characters in a cartoon. I want to base them all on the color purple and each of the characters will have a one main emotion that color purple is identified with. I have not chosen the emotions yet because I need to do further research to do that. 

I decided to make it a royal family, since the color purple is often seen as a color of royalty. 

These are just a very rough sketches that are supposed to give an idea of what I want to create, my final characters may differ a lot from what is shown here. This is just a core idea of creating a family, all wearing crowns. I want to make all my characters in a very similar style, so they all could fit into one cartoon. 

 

As of right now I am planning on sketching the characters on my IPad and developing them in Blender, because I want to set myself a challenge. I am thinking of creating low poly characters, because my computer is not able to handle me creating a high poly project.
